We are a parish of the Diocese of East Carolina, led by The Right Reverend Clifton Daniel, 3rd, Bishop. We are located on Highway 58 between Mile Markers 10 and 10.5 on the sound side, 1 mile west of the Trinity Episcopal Conference Center.

Our Sunday Service starts at 10:00 am. A nursery for infants through age three is available.

There is also a Wednesday Service at noon.

From Palm Sunday through Labor Day weekend, a class for children ages 4-8 starts at 10:00 each Sunday, lasting approximately 30 minutes. The children are then taken upstairs to participate in Communion.

St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church began in 1992 with an idea that there could be an Episcopal presence on Bogue Banks because of the burgeoning population and numbers of summer people. On July 7, 2002, the first service was held in our newly constructed building with over 300 in attendance.

We are an active, extremely committed parish of just under 100 communicants which swells to over 150 in the summer months. Seventy percent of our parishioners are over the age of 60, the majority of whom we describe as “active retirees.” With our unique beach location, many of our faithful communicants are “cottagers” whose permanent residence is elsewhere, but have adopted St. Francis as their second home church. The attire is casual, the fellowship warm and friendly, and the worship service and space are beautiful, exciting, and flexible.
